Lynn Charlton MBE
I joined After Adoption because I was attracted by the passion of the people who work for the charity. I have always found After Adoption to be an innovative organisation and I have been pleased to play a lead role in many of the geographical and service developments, since 1998. I became CEO in 2006, and I saw this as an opportunity to develop After Adoption further, by increasing the number of people we could help through the development of key services.
From day one, I wanted to put children at the heart of what we do and then make sure that anyone connected to adoption had the support they needed. I also wanted to create a good culture within the charity, a recognised nice place to work, and I’m pleased we are award-winning in this area. My background is in social work and therapy and I have worked in the field of adoption for many years.
Today, I mainly use my experience to influence government policy and shape services on a national scale. People describe me as an inspirational leader – I am dynamic and I have bags of energy. As well as being CEO here, I hold a number of other Non-Executive Director positions in other organisations.
Under my leadership, After Adoption has become a key national organisation and I intend to make sure that we contribute to the changes in adoption and have a sustainable future so that we can continue to make a difference to people’s lives.
