Blog Post: Independent Evaluation Confirms SafeBase is Top Class

Nottingham Trent University Independent Evaluation of our SafeBase Parenting Programme gives a big thumbs up!

SafeBase is a therapeutic parenting programme for adoptive families, those with Special Guardianship Orders, and other permanent carers, including families with older children and teenagers.

We developed SafeBase in response to requests from parents for practical ways to address and manage their children’s challenging behaviour and it was first delivered in 2005 under its original name SAFE (Strengthening Adoptive Families in England).

SafeBase explores the impact of loss and trauma upon a child’s attachment and development and helps adoptive parents and carers to develop an understanding of the impact of their child’s past experiences of trauma and loss.

Nottingham Trent University conducted an independent evaluation of the programme. Their findings confirmed that the programme delivers exactly what Adoptive Parents and SGO / Permanent Carers need.  SafeBase:

1) Improves wellbeing

2) Enables effective parenting

3) Manages parental expectation

4) Provides essential learning for adopters
