The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our West Midlands team as a Family Placement Social Worker Worker. Under the guidance of the Team Manager you will arrange and support family placements by the recruitment, preparation and assessment of prospective adopters and the provision of on-going support, advice and assistance to them. You will also prepare and present reports at meetings attended including Adoption Panel meetings. Planning and implementing programmes for introductions for children and families and co-ordinating post-placement support programmes in line with the Local Authority care plans for children. This will be done in conjunction with After Adoption’s regional adoption support teams as a key requirement. You must have a minimum of three years post qualifying experience in childcare social work including direct experience of adoption work.

The role requires the successful candidate to have a good working knowledge and an understanding of child development and attachment theory and the various adoption and children legislation.
