Located on the North Eastern tip of Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the world’s highest peaks and a truly amazing spectacle!

Your greatest adventure

This 10 day trek will take you to the roof of Africa, 5895m above sea level to the top of Africa’s highest mountain. Joining with experienced walkers, you will find yourself trekking over 40 hours in 8 days and taking in some breathtaking views of the African Savannas.

Experience the trip of a lifetime with this amazing trek up Kilimanjaro and through some of the world’s most diverse landscape. Trek through dense forest over rocky terrain and up to ice glaciers as you discover the three volcanic centres of Kilimanjaro and the African culture surrounding them.

This high altitude challenge offers you the chance to see some amazing views as you trek towards the snowy peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Itinerary

The following itinerary gives you a taste of what is to come on this incredible adventure.

  • Day 1: Fly London to Kilimanjaro airport
  • Day 2: Transfer to Arusha
  • Day 3: Begin trekking the Machame route first climb to 3100m
  • Day 4: Ascend through forest on the Shira Plateau camp at 3840m
  • Day 5: Pass underneath the Lava Tower and Western Breach (acclimatisation time)
  • Day 6: Trek the Great Barranco ravine towards Karanga Valley
  • Day 7: Short steep ascent to Barafu Camp at 4,600m – great for acclimatisation
  • Day 8: Ascend towards summit glaciers, sun rise at Stella Point crater rim at 5,750m
  • Day 9: Gentle trek back down to rain forest and Mweka – receive certificate of ascent!
  • Day 10: Time to explore, transfer to airport for flight home
  • Day 11: Flight to London

  • Is the Trip for me?
    Absolutely – Kilimanjaro welcomes all with a sense of adventure, so if you are up for a physical and mental challenge this is for you. Most of your fellow trekkers won’t have done anything like this before and while some will travel with friends and family, many will come alone. However, they will go home having secured new friends for life!
  • How fit do I need to be?
    You don’t need to be an athlete to conquer Kilimanjaro; however you will need to complete a good amount of training to make the most of this fantastic opportunity. We will provide you with a comprehensive training guide to help get you to the summit the highest freestanding mountain in the world and will of course be on hand every step of the way to help with any queries you may have.
  • Will I be able to raise the sponsorship money?
    Yes! – Even if you are new to this kind of fundraising, with planning and determination you will find that you are reaching your target in no time. It is recommended that you start your fundraising as soon as possible and in addition our overseas managers are full of new and exciting fundraising ideas should you need to seek inspiration.
  • Can I stay on in Tanzania longer?
    Yes! For a nominal administration fee your flight can be extended (subject to availability) which will give you a fantastic opportunity to explore this amazing location at your own pace.
  • Will you help me?
    Yes! We have an event manager on hand from the second you sign up right until after you return from your challenge. Once we receive your booking we will send out a comprehensive confirmation pack that includes everything you need to know. Our dedicated phone line ensures that we are just a call away to assist you with any queries you may have and we even arrange a get together before the trip departs, enabling you to meet fellow trekkers and swap both training and fundraising ideas.
  • What is the food like?
    Fantastic! Being a tropical country fresh fruit and vegetables are plentiful and are often used in traditional dishes such as stews and rice dishes. Vegetarians can be catered for.
  • What do I need to bring?
    You won’t need any specialist kit, however you will need a pair of worn in walking boots and a good sleeping bag. A comprehensive kit list will be supplied upon registration.
  • Will you carry my luggage whilst I’m trekking?
    A team of porters will carry your main luggage along the route. You will just need to carry the essentials in a day pack such as fleece, waterproofs, sun cream and of course your camera.
  • How many people can take part?
    The maximum group size for this trip is 30 people.
  • What type of accommodation will I be staying in?
    Hotels either side of the trek, and tents during the trek.
  • Is there an age restriction?
    You will need to be over 18 but there is no upper age limit. If you are over 65 will just need to get a medical form signed by your doctor.
  • What’s included in the cost?
    Flights and all internal travel, accommodation, all meals on trekking days, water, refreshments, guides, a doctor and medical support.
  • What about insurance?
    You must have travel insurance cover in order to participate in this challenge. You can either arrange this yourself (as long as your insurance company is aware of the nature of what you are doing and that it is a charity event) or we can help you arrange this.
