After Adoption: Helping everyone affected by adoption
Adoption Voices was made by a group of young adopted people aged 11-25 in the North East of England who are part of Getting it: Together, a project of After Adoption. The group worked in collaboration with the BALTIC centre for contemporary art in Gateshead to produce the DVD.
The film is a powerful tool for professionals to use for adoption preparation and educating professionals form other fields such as health and education. It covers issues of identity, contact with birth relatives, feelings about parents and siblings and experiences at school. It gives a powerful voice to the young people's experiences and also includes contributions from an adoptive mother.
