Help for Adoptive Families

All families need help and advice at times and families where adoption plays a part are no different. Alongside the rewards, adopting a child also brings its own challenges and we recognise that adoptive families may need help from time to time.

Family needs are varied and some families may need support around understanding their child’s background and the bearing it has on the child and family today. Other families want advice around contact and life story work or want to join our groups to meet other adoptive parents and share experiences.

We provide a number of services to adoptive families. We offer help for adoptive parents to talk to their children about adoption and support in sharing difficult information. If your children are over 18 and wish to contact birth families, we can offer guidance and support. Through direct work with children we explore issues relating to adoption, including contact arrangements and reunions.

We also offer parent, children and young people support groups, family days and events.
