Past Events

Arts Award Drama Programme, Autumn 2014

During Autumn 2014 a group of seven young people took part in eight session Arts Award drama programme held in conjunction with Collective Encounters. Over the course of the programme the young people produced a short film on the project, what they love about TALKadoption Merseyside and what activities they have enjoyed the most. The young people completed all of the filming, animation and sound themselves.

Health and Wellbeing Course

Our young people took part in six session Health and Wellbeing Course in conjunction with Healthline. The course looked at healthy eating, healthy relationships, positive friendships and dreams and aspirations. The young people addressed issues in a fun way including role play, art work, and lots of group games. Over the six sessions the young people gain in confidence and established friendships within the group.

Digital Workships

In November 2014 we held two digital workshops for each age group, in conjunction with FACT. The first session focused on photography and the second session focused on moving film. The young people loved working on ipads and learnt photography, filming, camera angle, and editing skills. The sessions were great and all of the young people had lots of fun!

Identity Model Making Workshop3rd May 2014 and 17th May 2014

We held two workshops, one for each of our age groups, with one of our creative partners, Stray Cat. The young people where invited to make their own individual model from plastercine, using a variety tools and wide choice of colours. The session promoted the young peoples sense of identity and strengthened their self esteem. Feedback from this session was excellent with young people saying ‘today made me feel happy’ and ‘I enjoyed today, I wish it could be every session’.

Graffiti Workshop5th July 2014

The young people at TALKadoption expressed a wish to make a piece of graffiti, which could be displayed at Liverpool One for the upcoming young person’s FLUX Festival. During the sessions leading up to the workshop, the young people discussed their ideas. At start of the session the young people decided that piece should be of different words describing TALKadoption and their lives. The group worked together, and really enjoyed the session. The piece is set to be complete on 12th July, and installed on 16th July 2014.

Circus Skills Workshop, 29th May 2014

During May half term, we held Circus Skills Workshops. We had two sessions, one for each age group, which both consisted of a short performance from the instructors. This not only entertained the young people but also motivated and inspired them, when practising the skills. The young people where then given the opportunity to learn four circus skills these being juggling, diabolo, plate spinning and stilt walking. At the end of the session parents had the opportunity to see their child practicing some skills. The session was fantastic and it was great to see so many young people all helping eachother learn some new skills.
