Celebrating Volunteers' Week 2017

Volunteers’ Week is an annual event run by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), which celebrates the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK.

After Adoption has a long history of offering volunteer opportunities, since its inception 27 years ago.

Chris Lukey has been a volunteer family researcher for After Adoption for 15 years so far. He has two roles; one is answering the phones on our ActionLine, where he works as part of a team supporting everyone affected by adoption. His other role is working on the search team directly with adoption support workers to help people separated by adoption. Chris said, “Working on the ActionLine I meet many different people in different situations, it’s really interesting and every day is different.”

“I find volunteering really rewarding and would say to anyone thinking about it to give it a go!”

Emma Peacock, Marketing and Communications Manager at After Adoption, commented, “We really value the skills, expertise, passion and commitment our volunteers bring to After Adoption. It is with their support that we are able to deliver high quality services to all parties affected by adoption.

“Volunteers help us make a difference to the lives of many – last year we supported 6,454 people affected by adoption. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers, past and present, for their dedication and for being part of the After Adoption team.

If you would like to volunteer for us go to find out about our latest opportunities.
