If you are adopted you may experience strong feelings such as hurt, anger or excitement as you grow older. Sometimes these feelings can affect your parents and those around you. You may also have many questions about your adoption. These could be questions such as 'why was I adopted?' and 'what do I tell my friends at school or college?'.
Our staff have worked with many young people like you and understand what you may be going through. We run groups for young people to talk about adoption, help you and your parents to talk and also hold family days where you can get together with other adopted people.
We have produced a children's guide to adoption support. This explains the adoption process, why children are adopted and what some of the people coming into your life are doing there. Our youth representation group have also produced two questionnaires - one for kids and one for teenagers - on what it means to be adopted. Questions can be faxed, emailed or posted to our Preston office. See Contact Us.
Copies are available to download on the right but you may also request hard copies by calling TALKadoption.
You can also visit our new Young People's Forum and talk online to others like you.
