Fundraising Update

By Steve Joyce, Senior Fundraiser

Moving forward we are concentrating on applications to charitable trusts, both large and small. There are some exciting plans for projects and our priorities are funding these, along with unrestricted donations that go into the pot and allow After Adoption to spend money when and where we need to.

We are looking at events for the coming 12 months and one plan is the return of After Adoption team fundraising in the new financial year. The last time we did this was around five years ago. Each team puts on some kind of fundraising event with the aim of raising at least £500 for the charity. It can be good fun and helps us to raise much needed funds! Watch this space.

There are lots of other events coming up too. After Adoption has guaranteed places in the Silverstone Half Marathon in March and the London Marathon in April, both with an early February closing date. Fancy taking part? Check out the website. There are also thousands of other runs, abseils, parachute jumps and overseas challenges that anyone can take part in and raise funds for After Adoption.

Corporate fundraising was a priority last year and Louise made some really good connections. We aim to keep those relationships going and hope for more support from the corporate sector. Do you have contacts in a company that would perhaps like a charity of the year? Put us in touch.

Christmas Jumper Day

Just before Christmas, supporters from companies, schools, nurseries, clubs and individuals took part in our third Christmas Jumper Day. As well as being one of our easiest fundraising events, it’s also one of the most fun. It’s a great way for people to get involved with the charity on a small scale each December and we love seeing the photos. So far this year’s has raised nearly £1,700 for our work. With over 100 groups having taken part, we expect that figure to go up considerably. Check out our IT support company Mazars taking part last month, they clearly enjoyed fundraising for After Adoption!
