Do you work with adopted adults and birth relatives? Come join us for a 2.5 hour workshop on best practices for managing an Intermediary Service.

Managing an Intermediary Service presents challenges in determining what legal restrictions apply to this area of work and how we ensure that services remain within the law, whilst offering a sensitive service to all those seeking to be put in contact with birth relatives and adopted adults.

This event will explore the legal boundaries that apply, as well as considering best practice and the practice guidance issued by central government. It will also consider practice dilemmas by using case studies to look at various scenarios and examine how to achieve positive outcomes for those involved.

You will learn:

  • The legal framework – what does the current legislation state about Intermediary Services, who can apply and how should they be delivered
  • Adopted adults or birth relatives – the difference in service provision. Including services for descendants of deceased adopted adults
  • Practice guidance for service delivery – how to achieve best practice
