Keeping Siblings Together: Better Outcomes from Practice

What Keeping Siblings Together
When October 10 2017, 1:00 pm - October 10 2017, 4:00 pm
Where After Adoption
Address 5 Blantyre Street, Manchester M15 4JJ

Some of the earliest challenges in adoption practice come through the recruitment of prospective adopters for sibling groups. After Adoption recognises the importance for siblings to remain together from the earliest opportunity.

We seek to strengthen families to meet the needs of sibling groups and have developed a model that enables a ratio of 1.6 children being placed in families we recruit. This success has been achieved by developing practice that supports families on their journey, providing ongoing information sessions on adopting sibling groups and access to adoptive parents to share their realistic and empowering experiences.

This workshop will cover:

  • Sharing best practice
  • Assessing siblings needs in planning appropriate support
  • Delivering effective support to sibling placements
